Poetry

Black girl black girl little black girl...

Too afraid to be herself.... to blossom

within her O W N skin because she was too

busy trying to fit in.

Enduring the feelings of being different, being weird, being obedient.

She's too

nerdy, too skinny but yet athletic.

Black girl black girl little black girl...

Too afraid to be herself... to blossom

within her O W N skin because she was too

busy trying to fit in.

Yes she lived in a two parent home where

the love was flowing... but yet felt in the

shadows when the home was growing.

Black girl black girl T H I S little black girl

grew up in the church but ran from her

calling... promising her grandmother she would get serious one day.... one day when

she's Thirty.

But of course when the Lord speaks

there's not much denying....

ME!.... Anointed?!.... Lord somebody G O T S to be lying.

Black girl black girl little black girl

grew up being different, strange and a

OVER THE TOP Christian... At least that's

what they say when her presence is away.

Black girl black girl little black girl is more

than what she protrayed, more than what

she wanted others to believe but all she

needed to do... was S P E A K!
